Quality management is intended to assist an organisation in consistently understanding and meeting customer requirements. Whilst the presence of structured management methods does not guarantee delighted customers, the absence of structured methods is often associated with frustrated customers! Therefore, a key issue in the implementation and use of management systems is ensuring that processes deliver value to the customer along with demonstrating conformance to an international standard.  The 2015 version of the ISO 9001 standard recognised this issue and is a lot less prescriptive than previous versions, but requires significantly more engagement from top management to be implemented correctly.
